1.1.  Single-Sign-On

In Live and Mixed Validation modes (see Mode Selection), Sitecore can authenticate Users automatically using the browser’s domain credentials instead of requiring a password.  The login page becomes http://server/login instead of http://server/sitecore.  Users in Mixed mode will be able to log in using the Sitecore generated password if that password is distributed.

1.2.  Checklist

For each domain in which LDAP will be used (generally Sitecore and/or Extranet), document the configuration details required for the process, then implement:

• Configure and test a third-party LDAP server (Microsoft Active Directory or Novell eDir)
   
• Determine if Single-Sign-On is intended for Sitecore or Extranet
   
• Determine any Custom Fields
   
• Determine validation mode (see Mode Selection)
   
• Backup
   
• Install
   
• Configure
   
• Test
